Open Air Art Exhibition Ayamonte, Spain

What a great way to make the most of the work of local artists inspired by the surroundings. Simple by hanging them all around the centre of the town. Simply stunning and a great way to spend a summers evening!

Thanks for the lovely photographs!

Churches Ayamonte

There are lots of churches in Ayamonte. The church of San Salvador us one of the first you find as you enter the town from the road leading up from the Guardians River. It stands on the hill with stunning views from its tower. It’s well worth a visit. If your walking up from the town rake the road that runs along the harbour and follow or round. I cut up between the houses at the end of the road. It’s a lovely walk which I do a lot in the cooler months.

Isla Canela – Visit The Marshland Mill

Isla Canela – Visit The Marshland Mill

One My Guests Seem To Miss

We are surrounded by marshlands at Isla Canela. It provides amazing walks and a great habitat for wildlife but how was it formed and has it been anything more than just a pretty backdrop? Molino El Pintade is a restored mill. It’s known locally as an Eco Museum. It has all the gadgets and displays to help visitors understand how the marshlands once added so much to the local economy from its salt flats, to fishing and of course the production of flour using marshland water to power the mill.

It’s FREE, pretty and extremely interesting. I highly recommend a visit.

You can follow them on Facebook too where they list local events hosted at the mill.

Weekend In Ayamonte, Spain

It’s the weekend and time to go shopping. Can you think of a more perfect setting?

To the right of the marina you will find the indoor market. Perfect for all your fresh fish and vegetables.

If your looking for extra tourist information pop into the tourist info office. It’s at the top end of the marina next to the park. (You can see its location on this photo. It’s next to the group of trees at the top of the marina).

It’s easy to get to from our apartment. Drive down the road to the right of the marina and at the far end, just before the road curves you will see private parking. It’s got a big P sign so you can’t miss it. Really secure and easy with the kids.
