Where to stay in Isla Canela – News – Augusts FAQ’s

Where to stay in Isla Canela – News – Augusts FAQ’s

A-quick-question-broke-dont-fix-it.-208/31/2016
It has been a busy month for both visits and booking. Lot’s of really good questions have been asked and I thought I would share them with you.

DO WE NEED A CAR DURING OUR HOLIDAY?

The simple answer is no do not need a car during you stay, however, you may well want a car during your stay. It depends on the month that you visit and what you want to do.

Throughout the year it is very easy to arrive from Faro airport as we can recommend a very good taxi service. It is also very easy throughout the year to get out and about as there is a bus stop just opposite the apartment with a regular service into Ayamonte. From spring to late autumn the land train also runs down to the marina so there are lots of options!

For a quick autumn break you may want to cram lots of sightseeing in. That is, I suppose when a car would make life easier but again you can still get over to Portugal easily on the ferry. I can also recommend a taxi locally for short trips.

DO YOU HAVE A SCALES TO WEIGH A SUITCASE IN THE APARTMENT?

I have a bathroom scales. I try to avoid it when on holidays :-0 Although I am sure i would be happy to weigh my suitcase on it!

CAN I BOOK FORF 2018?

The simple answer is yes. At the moment I am just noting past guests interest in staying for a regular period each year but if you want to go for it and make a formal booking you can.

Where to stay in Isla Canela – Travel information – Faro Airport With Kids

Flying out of Faro is quite a nice experience with kids. (you did read that correctly!) There are quite a few child friendly cafes in the airport and even a little play area near the gates. My tip would be to buy the bottled water before boarding the plane, its cheaper in the airport!

ImprimirYou will see a string of apartment buildings along the beach but can you spot ours? It is one of the first apartment buildings as you enter Isla Canela and not there is not a lot to out left. Hence, stunning sunset views. There is nothing in our way!

Just back from a wonderful holiday at Sarah’s apartment. We have holidayed in the area for about 10 years in hotels & apartments and this was by far the very best.
Beautiful terrace to relax, chill out, sunbathe, eat, drink and enjoy the fabulous views across to Portugal with stunning sunsets.
Apartment very well equipped, brilliant wifi & smart tv, good kitchen equipment for trying out Spanish dishes, huge fridge which we kept well stocked with wine!
Sarah is very informative and on hand for any assistance, and her pre-holiday info is very good.
Cannot wait to return x

Where to stay in Isla Canela – – July’s FAQ’S

Where to stay in Isla Canela – – July’s FAQ’S

A-quick-question-broke-dont-fix-it.-108/03/2016
I have had a number of questions this month from guests and I thought I would share some of the FAQ.

We are worried about possible mosquito problems as we can react quite badly to bites. Would you say this is a problem in the area ?

No, I don’t think we have more of a problem than lots of hot countries. My tip would be to keep the doors and windows closed before sunset and use plugins. Also, if you know you suffer with bits take a antihistamine once a day throughout your stay. I suffer quite badly and this helps no end!

Is there a cheaper taxi other than Yellow Fish from the airport in Faro?

Yes, my neighbours daughter uses www.faroshuttlebus.com/. It collects and drops you off at the Barcelo hotel next door. It stops a few times enroute but it is cheaper.

Can we hire a bike?

Yes, there is a hire point just opposite the apartment. You even hire a family bike with two rows of seats and a canopy.

Can you fish for razor clams and how do you do it?

It depends on the tide. You need to look for little holes along the edge of the sea. You tip sea onto these and wait, grabbing quickly the razor clam as it pops up!

Where to stay in Isla Canela – Travel information – Take The Night Off

Even-COOKSdeserve-a-day-off07/20/2016
You may love cooking and will be inspired by all the local produce but every cook deserves the night off. We supply all the pots and pans you need BUT why not take the evening off? Stroll out of our front gates and you have several bars and restaurants all on the doorstep. I think Chiringuito Bombadill is our closest eatery or maybe its Los Barriles? You will just have to try both!

Read the reviews for Los Barilles on tripadvisor.

Where to stay in Isla Canela – Upcoming Events – School Holidays

vision-492266_1920

It is almost the start of the school holidays and all our little and not so little ones will be free to run, jump and play for several weeks. It all sounds great and in fact being right on the beach there are loads of things to do along the coast.

As a parent, however, I know that there are time when you need just a little technology to give yourself some free time to do the basics, like take a shower 🙂
My kids seem to fall silent when presented with a screen. It doesn’t happen to often but parents need a break too!

At Casa Chambers we have taken this on board providing a smart tv, wifi and access to all UK on demand TV channels when you use your smart device! I am sure I can hear the kids cheering already.
