What to see in Isla Canela – Exhibitions – Museum Of The Brotherhood

brotherhood-ayamonteWe visit every year at Easter and never fail to be taken aback by the sight of the brotherhood and the amazing processions around Ayamonte. This year they celebrate their 75th Anniversary with a big procession on the 25th June.

If you have never seen one of the Easter processions I would recommend a visit to their museum. On display are their banners, flags and processional costumes. The visit costs just € 1.50 which is just a small donation.

The Brotherhood museum is open Monday to Friday Friday 11 to 13: 30h and 17:30 to 20: 30h. Located on Calle Jovellanos right beside the Mercedes Temple.

What to see in Isla Canela – Natural attractions – Jacaranda Trees

trees ayamonteJune is a lovely month to visit Isla Canela. The red roses line the roadway as you enter Ayamonte and the abundance of jacaranda trees is quite amazing. I had to stop on the way to the airport to take this photograph as we kept admiring them all over town but didn’t get chance to snap any. Against the white washed houses they look quite something!
