Shopping In Ayamonte, Spain

Somethings Fishy With These Prices

We cook a lot on holidays and even though we love the local bars and restaurants we love getting creative in the kitchen too. Yesterday, we went shopping in Mercadana, a large supermarket in Aymonte. The choice of fish is massive and just look at the prices!! In the UK they would be at least treble!!!! Let the fish fest begin!

Take Away The Pain And Relax!

When the kids fall head first in the sea, when they start to have a complete breakdown and need to just go home and shower. You’ll be thrilled you decided to stay with us. The tears will soon stop. We are just 80 metres from the beach and our guest shower room is perfect for getting them all warmed up and clean before dinner and a stop of CBBC! This is an action shot from this afternoons drama!

Music In The Tower – Isla Canela, Spain

The Torre tower at Isla Canela is a great example of a warning beacon built in the 16th century. Forty of these beacons, all with a very similar design, were built as a form of communication to warn Andalusians of a threat or invasion from moors and pirates. They start at Gibraltar and run all down the coast towards Ayamonte.

Tomorrow you can take a tour of the tower and listen to some amazing Spanish musicians. Tickets have to be purchased in advance. So get booking!

The Autumn In Spain

For children Autumn in the UK sees the start of darker nights, Halloween, Bon fire night and Christmas lights. In Spain Halloween isn’t really celebrated but there’s lots of other fun and colourful fiestas and carnivals coming over the next few months. It’s one of our favourite times to visit. Plaza Laguna in Ayamonte is a great spot to let the children play while you have a coffee at a cafe in the plaza and if you do want to let the kids explore Halloween all you really need is a plastic spider and a passing few nuns!! I still laugh at my daughters face in this picture!!!

Ryanair Is Making Me Happy!

It's not very often that anyone sings the praises of the low cost airlines but this year prices have been so good for summer 2016 making access to our holiday apartment from the UK a real option for those on a budget. There's currently a sale on loads of routes and two lucky families found they're flights at a really good price yesterday. So we have another week booked our apartment. I'm so thrilled for them!

We have the week commencing 15th August still available for the school holiday but then that it. The school holiday weeks will be full. So please take a look at these great flight prices and get in touch if your dreaming of a holiday with us during this period.

Getting Out And About

Isla Canela, Spain

I’m always posting about things you can do in the local area most of which are easily accessible on foot or by public transport. If you do find yourself needing to go further a field or want a taxi home after a night out in Ayamonte I can recommend. Two local taxi services.

Jose is Spanish, speaks prefect English and was literally a life saver a few weeks back when he helped guests get to the hospital in Huelva in the early hours of the morning. His number is 0034615934066.

Esuri Taxis area a British taxi firm. They are happy to take your bookings via phone call or on their Facebook page which I did this week.

Enjoy your adventures.
