What to do in Isla Canela – Day trips – Moorish Jeap Safari

What to do in Isla Canela – Day trips – Moorish Jeap Safari

POP09/06/2016
How about a jeep safari to get you out and about? This company will even collect you from Isla Canela.

Here is a review from tripadvisor.

Great team work, very well organized, welcoming and proffessional staff”

4 of 5 starsReviewed 25 September 2015

“I booked the “Moorish Trail” for myself and some members of my family, with the idea to maybe be able to suggest this to our friends and family who come to spend their holidays with us.

Pick-up service and journey to Vila real Stº António is good and quick, in a comfortable coach.

We started off with the jeep safari which was very well organized (we were with 8 jeeps, each with around 8 pax!). The drivers speak a variety of languages so all nationalities can enjoy their explanations about all there is to tell of the countryside, flora, fauna and history, plus: they are very good drivers!!
Around lunchtime we arrived at the Quinta (farm/restaurant, owned by Riosul) where all guests (jeep and boat trip) could relax for a while, get a cool drink, take a jump into the pool. We then had a fantastic lunch, served by all the jeep drivers, who quickly put on their aprons 🙂 There was a fab guitar player and the staff were just amazing, especially when they started to sing!

After lunch we went on the boat, down the river, to Vila Real Stº António.
Thumbs up for a fantastic organization, great staff and what I liked a lot was the team work and good atmosphere they manage to create. It was a great day.
Certainly will recommend Riosul whenever I can!”

Where to eat and drink in Isla Canela – Terraces with a view – Enjoy While You Can

El Paradise Beach is a popular spot with many of our guests. It’s soon to relocate due as the shoreline is getting a little too close. So enjoy it while you can. It really is worth a visit.

What to see in Isla Canela – Natural attractions – We Have Wild Famingos!

flamingos-1205366_192009/08/2016
In September flamingos can be spotted in Isla Canela. You can try looking in the marshland behind Punta Moral if you would like to find a flock. You will need your walking boots and a bit of determination.

One of the best viewpoints is from the road to Ayamonte just west of the Iberostar Hotel. Walk west, beyond the roundabout and find a dirt track on your right. Follow your nose till the dirt track briefly turns into a tarmac road. There were a flock of 56 here last year!!

Where to stay in Isla Canela – News – Augusts FAQ’s

Where to stay in Isla Canela – News – Augusts FAQ’s

A-quick-question-broke-dont-fix-it.-208/31/2016
It has been a busy month for both visits and booking. Lot’s of really good questions have been asked and I thought I would share them with you.

DO WE NEED A CAR DURING OUR HOLIDAY?

The simple answer is no do not need a car during you stay, however, you may well want a car during your stay. It depends on the month that you visit and what you want to do.

Throughout the year it is very easy to arrive from Faro airport as we can recommend a very good taxi service. It is also very easy throughout the year to get out and about as there is a bus stop just opposite the apartment with a regular service into Ayamonte. From spring to late autumn the land train also runs down to the marina so there are lots of options!

For a quick autumn break you may want to cram lots of sightseeing in. That is, I suppose when a car would make life easier but again you can still get over to Portugal easily on the ferry. I can also recommend a taxi locally for short trips.

DO YOU HAVE A SCALES TO WEIGH A SUITCASE IN THE APARTMENT?

I have a bathroom scales. I try to avoid it when on holidays :-0 Although I am sure i would be happy to weigh my suitcase on it!

CAN I BOOK FORF 2018?

The simple answer is yes. At the moment I am just noting past guests interest in staying for a regular period each year but if you want to go for it and make a formal booking you can.

What to do in Isla Canela – Day trips – Learn To Flamenco In Seville

08/30/2016
Life can be measured on your experiences and this is one to add to your bag. While in Spain you could learn to flamenco in the romantic city of Seville. Following the lesson you will attend an evening performance which may well inspire you!

Seville is around 90 minutes away from Isla Canela and is very easy to reach by car.

Where to eat and drink in Isla Canela – Gourmet goodness – The Secret Garden ~ Shhh….

Where to eat and drink in Isla Canela – Gourmet goodness – The Secret Garden ~ Shhh….

Abaceria-de-Pedro-OrtaThis bar is very difficult to find unless you know about it and I do!

The front of the bar is a brilliant shop full of local products and a great choice of wines and spirits. More importantly, the shop owner absolutely knows his stuff. If you have a little Spanish he can be really helpful. Go through the shop past an office on the right with some really old office equipment and through to a small bar. Behind the bar is a garden with lemon trees in it. Lovely place for a drink.

Note: In the summer make sure you smother yourself in mosquito repellent when you go into the garden.

Ask the waiters about the wines. It is a great place. They serve interesting cold meats and cheese but no hot food.

What to see in Isla Canela – Natural attractions – Punta Moral

punta-moral

Located at the mouth of the estuary and close to the salt-marshes of the Isla Cristina Natural Park, Punta Moral is an old fishing village located opposite the much newer addition of Isla Canela marina.

Make sure to take some time out in one of the small restaurants that sit along the shore opposite the fish boats, La Carpa is a good choice for paella!

Where to stay in Isla Canela – Travel information – Faro Airport With Kids

Far08/24/2016
Flying out of Faro is quite a nice experience with kids. (you did read that correctly!) There are quite a few child friendly cafes in the airport and even a little play area near the gates. My tip would be to buy the bottled water before boarding the plane, its cheaper in the airport!

You can’t avoid golf courses on this stretch of coast and Isla Canela golf course is one of the best. It is quite cheap and just a 2 minute drive from the apartment.
