The Torre tower at Isla Canela is a great example of a warning beacon built in the 16th century. Forty of these beacons, all with a very similar design, were built as a form of communication to warn Andalusians of a threat or invasion from moors and pirates. They start at Gibraltar and run all down the coast towards Ayamonte.
Tomorrow you can take a tour of the tower and listen to some amazing Spanish musicians. Tickets have to be purchased in advance. So get booking!
