Pilgrimage This Weekend Ayamonte

Pilgrimage This Weekend Ayamonte

pilgrim

This weekend is quite a big date in the calendar of Ayamonte. This morning at 9am the May pilgrimage will take place.  The pilgrims meet at 9am in the church of Poz del Camino where mass will be  taken. They then leave the church carrying the Virgin Mary on a wagon and start their way to Don Gaspar.

On Sunday at 12.30pm mass will take place and the pilgrims will make their way back to Ayamonte.

It is quite a sight and well worth the effort to go and watch, even take part in.

Holiday Review – Thank You!

Holiday Review – Thank You!

I woke this morning to this beautiful and really elliquent review from my current guests. I’m over the moon. I try to pass on as much information as I can before guests arrive as I know holidays start way before guests arrive. It’s the day dreaming at your desk that makes holidays so worth it and to get this lovely feedback makes it so worth while. Thanks Merryn!

Sarah made sure my holiday started long before it actually started, by giving so much help, advice and information before we flew. So we arrived in a state of total relaxation knowing there were no nasty surprises – and masses of nice ones! The apartment is spotlessly clean, spacious and equipped with everything you could want – right down to kids’ toys, games, masses of books, wifi and smart TV service. Critically, a massive fridge for all those wine bottles! The beds are comfy…and the towels are scrumptiously fluffy. Sitting on the terrace, watching the sun go down, with a glass of wine in hand and looking across the Guadiana into Portugal is a magical experience. The apartment is only a few moments stroll to the stunning and unspoilt beach – all 7km of it – where there are many restaurants, bars and cafes where you can eat and drink while watching the kite-surfers do their thing! The whole experience is pretty close to paradise – can’t fault it (and I’m horribly picky!).

Friday Night Is Dance Night!

Friday Night Is Dance Night!

Ayamonte Flamenco

Get your dancing shoes on this Friday night as you might be inspired to strut your stuff after a night of dance at Plaza Laguna in Ayamonte.

If you want to let your hair down and have a few cold drinks in Plaza Laguna, as it looks a stunning evening, I can highly recommend Jose as a great way to get home to Isla Canela. You can text to book his taxi on +34 615 934 066.

Flying From Faro With Kids

Flying From Faro With Kids

Travelling with young children doesn’t have to be be stressful. I travel a lot with my girls and it’s usually fairly stress free. In fact almost fun 😉 You just need to know where your going and plan ahead.

Faro has a kids area in departures which is right next to Costa Coffee. You have to know about it or it’s easily missed! Head through the airport until you reach security which goes through to the gates and you’ll see this beacon of hope! I sit here while the kids play and then after they’ve burnt off some energy we wait for our flight to be called and go through.

It is also an opportunity to grab bottled water and cake for the flight keeping those little ones happy.

Before you travel we provide you will lots of tips and advice so your arrival at Faro is as easy as can be!
